Monira Yousefzada

Is an Afghan politician, author, and civil society activist with more than two decades of public service. She served as Head of Press and Spokesperson for the Independent Directorate of Local Governance, Deputy Governor of Kabul, and Head of Social and Political Programs at the Presidential Office. She made history as the first woman appointed as Deputy Minister of Defense of Afghanistan, responsible for education and personnel affairs. Since 2021, she has continued her academic and civic engagement, focusing on peace, justice, and women’s empowerment.
